This area is for the 'general' questions that didn't really fit in any of the above categories!
How does the timing work?

Whilst there is no podium prizes given out at a TriWoman event (the focus of the Series is about giving it a go), it is still great to know how long it took so you an try and beat your time next season! Timing is done through an electronic timing system; all individual participants and teams will receive a transponder in their race pack which is a type of 'velcro bracelet' that you strap around your ankle (it doesn't matter which ankle) and wear for the whole event.

What happens if i lose my transponder?

Transponders will be issued to you at event registration. If you forget to return your transponder or you lose it in the time between registration and event start, we will issue you with a new one for $50 cash. Bond is refundable on return of the lost transponder. If you do collect your registration pack the day before the event and then for whatever reason are unable to attend the event, it would be greatly appreciated if you could please return the transponder (to PO Box 128-509, Remuera, Auckland, 1541), as they are quite expensive to replace. If you do lose your transponder during the event, make a note of where you lost it in the event and after the event head back to the area and see if you can find it. Your assistance is greatly appreciated on this.

What if i need medical aid?

We will have medical services/first aid at all of our events. If you have a medical condition or allergies that our medical team should be made aware of we ask that you advise us when completing your registration form and one of our team at registration. Please write medical conditions or allergies and an emergency contact on the back of your race number.

Lost Property

Any lost property that is found during the event will be held at the Tri NZ registration tent and announced by the MC. Anything not claimed will be taken back to the office by the event team. If you have lost something, please email triwoman@triathlon.org.nz to find out if we have it.

How does prize giving work?

When the last woman comes over the finish line, we hold prize giving where we give away spot prizes and award our Good Health Magazine Inspirational Woman. When you finish, put your race number in the bin at the finish line, we then pick numbers at random from here. If yours is picked out, you’re a winner! You must be present to receive your prize. Prize giving normally takes about 20 minutes to half an hour.

In bad weather, we may choose to give away spot prizes by generating random numbers and giving them away as the event goes on, that way no one is hanging around for too long.

What are the longer distance events?
At Christchurch and Narrow Neck, we offer a longer distance event as well as our standard distance. The swim is the same (and the first run/walk is the same for the duathlon), but the bike and the run at the end is double (approx. 18k and 6k respectiviely). We only recommend the longer distance for those women who plan to run the course, rather than walk.
